COVID-19
We are delighted to be able to welcome guests back to Penygellli Apartments and want to make your stay as safe and pleasant as possible.
The Welsh Government has announced that self-catering properties are allowed to take guests from 11th July onwards but only subject to certain conditions being met. We have been issued with guidelines and protocols that outline new cleaning and safety requirements.
Unfortunately visitors from England are currently subject to travel restrictions until the 2nd December 2020. This means that only visitors from England who wish to stay in the area for work or compassionate reasons may book.
In response we have:
All this will, however, mean that things are slightly different from usual, and we will be asking for your cooperation with a few things.
We will not be able to greet you as we would normally do but we will try to contact you when you arrive whilst ensuring that we maintain social distancing guidance. This is still 2 metres in Wales.
Cleaning will take extra time – we will now:
This means that we need extra time for each changeover. To give ourselves sufficient time to carry out these extra tasks thoroughly and efficiently we need to change arrival and departure times to 4pm arrival (rather than 3pm), and 10am departure (rather than the usual 11am). We understand it is inconvenient, but it is really important that you allow us this extra time to ensure your safety. Please help us by observing these times.
Additionally,
PPE – Don’t forget to pack your masks, disposable gloves, 70% alcohol hand sanitiser, anti-viral hand wipes, and disinfectant surface wipes.
Some things may be missing – to reduce the risk of touch contamination, we have been advised to remove as much as possible from the apartments. This means that decorative cushions and throws, ornaments, paper information leaflets, toys, games, etc have been kept to a minimum. We have also reduced the amount of kitchen equipment but please request anything you might be missing.
Checking Out
Please open the main bedroom windows (if safe to do so) before you leave in order to ventilate the properties for us.
Please Strip your Beds before leaving – Not glamorous, on the last day of your holiday, we know. We are advised that the main route of transmission of the virus is airborne, and that the process of removing bedding could make any viral particles that may have been present in bedding airborne. This is why we are advised to ask guests to strip the beds themselves. We will be providing plastic bags for you to put the bedding in. This will apply to all sheets, duvet covers & Pillow cases - Please leave the mattress protectors and pillow protectors so we can fog these before we remove them and wash them
Please empty all bins (including bathroom bins) and leave outside the front door.
If You Develop Symptoms
If you develop symptoms – we sincerely hope that you will have a happy and healthy holiday. However, should a member of your party develop symptoms, the Government advice is to return to your primary residence as soon as possible where you are be tested. We have high risk members of our family, so please do let us know if you develop symptoms as we all want to keep our families safe and we have different cleaning protocols in place if there has been a suspected case.
Coming from a high risk area / where local lockdowns have been enforced.
Please note that for the safety of everyone, we reserve the right to cancel a booking should the area you're travelling from be of high concern or come under local lockdown restrictions. We will always try to make arrangements to rebook your holiday at a later date.
Mid Wales is a rural region and we have a responsibility to keep our rural communities, families and other guests safe during these unprecedented times.
We hope that you will have a fabulous holiday. The “new normal” may be slightly different than what we are all used to, but it is great to be able to get away again. With these new measures in place, we are looking forward to welcoming you, and want to thank you in advance for doing your bit.
If you have any questions, please call us on 01686 951497
Thank you
Zoe & Phil

In response we have:
- Prepared a full Risk Assessment for our apartments.
- Prepared a thorough cleaning protocol.
- Complied with all the advice given to our industry by the Wales Tourism Alliance.
- Listened to and complied with the Welsh Government Guidance.
- We have installed copper light switches and plugs where possible for their antiviral properties
- Invested in a 'fogging machine' which is used after every guest
- Hand sanitisers installed at the bottom of the stairs and on the front door.
- “double clean” the apartments – first our usual high level of cleaning, and then going over everything again with a disinfectant fogging machine.
- put all crockery through a dishwasher between guests.
- ensure that soft furnishings etc are either removed where possible and disinfect any soft furnishings which remain in the apartments.
- full PPE will be used by ourselves when cleaning the apartments
- all towels/sheets/soft furnishings/pillow protectors will be washed at a high 60 degree wash between guests.
- we are leaving 3 days between all guests just to be triply sure we are keeping you safe during your stay.
This means that we need extra time for each changeover. To give ourselves sufficient time to carry out these extra tasks thoroughly and efficiently we need to change arrival and departure times to 4pm arrival (rather than 3pm), and 10am departure (rather than the usual 11am).
